Register for Red, White and You Conference

Students entering 8th-10th grade are encouraged to attend the 2010 Red, White and You Teen Leadership Conference sponsored by the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation with support from the CHS Foundation. The conference will be held June 28-30 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

The Red, White & You Conference focuses on teaching campers about democracy. Youth attendees will find out what kind of leader they can be and view the responsibilities associated with the freedoms often taken for granted.

This year’s agenda will feature motivational speaker, Rick Metzger. In 1995, Rick was the gold medalist at the World Cup of Power Lifting. Metzger speaks about being a positive role model with an emphasis on personal growth and the value of citizenship. The program includes sessions on how the legislative process works, the importance of democracy and the responsibility associated with freedom, and the role student’s play as future leaders. There is also plenty of time to have fun making new friends, playing games, a dance and much more.

“Red, White and You is an amazing opportunity for youth to experience personal growth, develop friendships that will last them a lifetime, learn about Minnesota Farm Bureau and above all else - have fun,” said Metzger.

Amanda Nolz will also speak at the conference and challenge participants to “Stand Up, Speak Out, Tell Your Agriculture Story.” Nolz writes the BEEF Daily Blog posts at beefmagazine.com, which has become an industry sensation, attracting almost 400,000 hits in 2009. In addition to blogging and speaking, Nolz plays an active role on her family’s cattle operation near Mitchell, South Dakota. Nolz has become one of the industry’s most recognizable and vocal advocates. You may remember her as the 2006 National Beef Ambassador, or the girl that led the walkout at a Carrie Underwood concert.

For more information, contact Karin Schaefer at 651-768-2115 or kschaefer@fbmn.org, or visit www.fbmn.org for a conference brochure. Registration deadline is June 4.
